I very often visit France where my wife lives. Whilst I am in France, drawing cash from my Halifax account becomes an expensive nightmare, due to the charges. For heaven's sake, Britain and France are EU States. The people have to acknowledge this fact, why not the Banks? Transactions are simple and electronic. How can that fact justify the charges? It can't.
