Dudes and Dudettes! If you haven't heard already a devlopment company from Liverpool 'Nextdom' (who currently own the Charlton Arms) are looking to do away with it and build 41 new apartments. Although it appears that the plans aim to retain the Grade 2 listed part of the building, if they get the go ahead this means that we lose it for good, ie: No Hotel, Public House, Venues etc etc. Most importantly the Charlton Arms is an historic building dating back centuries and i don't think we should let it go without a fight. So IF YOU AGREE -PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION to help make a stand against these moneymaking developers who seem not to be interested in what we local folk want or our local history but making some cash. THIS PETITION WILL BE PRESENTED TO LOCAL OFFICIALS – TELFORD & WREKIN COUNCIL AND GOVERNMENT MEMBERS & COUNCILLORS INVOLVED IN THE DECISION MAKING AND PROTESTING TO SUCH PROPOSALS TO SAY "NO WE DONT WANT DEVELOPMENT IN AND AROUND THE CHARLTON ARMS – WE WANT TO KEEP IT IN THE PUBLIC DOMAIN TRADING AGAIN, HAVE IT BACK ON THE MARKET TO RETURN TO BEING EITHER A LUXURY HOTEL, CONFERENCE CENTRE?, B&B – PUBLIC HOUSE OR SUCH LIKE – WE DONT WANT TO LOSE PART OF OUR LOCAL HERITAGE AND FULLY PROTEST THE PROPOSALS OF DEVELOPMENT
I Have allways wanted to be the manager of The Charlton Arms! I remember going there for family parties in there function room, and would happily reopen this as a hotel/ public house if i could fund it. would be sad to see yet another well known thing in wellington dissapear…
put it back to what it should be….a pub.
This building must be kept intact it is one of the lifelines to Wellington and always has been.
