Graffiti artists are sentenced to up to 18 months in prison for non-violent offences, whereas 3 in 4 people caught with a firearm in 2008 avoided prison. I propose a change in legislation that will punish graffiti offenders by making them repay their debt to the community they damaged through community service, namely cleaning graffiti.

It costs thousands a year to pay for people being in prison. This is an obvious choice for the government.

The idea of sending somebody to prison disgusts me. The government must get there priorities right.
