2014-11-20 20:30:01 When I heard recently that it had been agreed the chapel was to be demolished I went with my sister to visit it on Monday afternoon and felt what a wonderful, peaceful place it is. I was surprised though at how small the chapel is and think that this beautiful building should be incorporated in the new plans and not just demolished to make room for the extension for the A&E. To destroy this beautiful place and sacrifice part of our history in the name of progress is disgraceful. Of course the A&E must expand to accommodate the increasing needs of Leicester, after all, it’s the only one for miles around. That’s mainly due to other A&Es being forced to close though in the first place, isn’t it. That too is probably in the name of progress! The new plans should include the chapel as well, after all, it’s not that big a building and once it’s gone, it’ll be gone forever. Yet another piece of history being demolished forever and all in the name of progress.
