The Station is vital for the commercial wellbeing of Crewe and the surrounding area, and is the first impression visitors receive of our town… a decaying Victorian masterpiece not in need of demolition or some grand and over elaborate scheme to move it out of the town. But a scheme to make the most of, or even celebrate the architectural legacy visible on the old platforms and blend it with whatever new structures replace the tiered old Seventies entrance we have now. This must surely be relocated round the corner to replace the old post office buildings and the road network re-planned so that pickups and drop offs don’t bring traffic to a halt on the main artery into the town. \r\n\r\nAs someone who uses the station on a daily basis I simply cannot believe that the current and previous governments all of whom profess to have an interest in the environment, who have actively made it more and more expensive to drive on our roads by imposing higher and higher tax, and are now refusing to invest the money raised from that tax in the railways and local transport systems which are inevitably needed as more people choose to use the railways. \r\n\r\nTo say the decision to withdraw this funding is short sighted is a massive understatement, this decision impacts too heavily on Crewe and I urge that this not be viewed as simply a party political matter, but that pressure be brought to bear from all sides to have this decision reversed.\r\n

it makes more sense to refurbish the station and bring it back to its former glory instead of building a new station out of reach of the elderly who a lot of them have no transport
