The student associate scheme has been dramatically cut because of the new coalition government budget cuts. As a result my university was informed that the 15 primary school places on the scheme had to be given to men. This is discrimination against women. The TDA have said that men are under-represented in primary schools and this is why they have done this, but why should women lose out on a very good opportunity? The scheme is nationwide and so this could have happened in your university too. It is not the universities's faults their hands are tied because these stipulations are coming from government departments and the TDA.
