I gave birth to my daughter on the 15th August this year. However, she was born 12 weeks early. Weighing only 1lb 9oz. My daughter was taken straight into the Neonatal unit as she was VERY small and VERY weak. You may be wondering exactly what this has to do with carparking.... well I will tell you... it has EVERYTHING to do with carparking. I visit my daughter in the Neonatal unit twice a day. Today, I turned up at the hospital only to find out that there was NO parking spaces outside the Womens hospital, NO spaces in the main carpark, but around 30 spaces in the carpark up the ramp outside Accident and Emergency. HOWEVER, the carpark was not letting people in as it was saying that the carpark was FULL.

That is not my only gripe...

I came into the womens hospital 2 weeks ago to see a Massive sign in reception stating about Parents of sick children can get free carparking by "contacting the ward/department who are caring for you and they will give you a form and confirm your eligabilty"..... but apparently, we have been told that OUR DAUGHTER IS NOT CLASSED AS A SICK CHILD!!!!!!! My daughter is hooked upto monitors and is on oxygen and everyday is a battle for her as she was born so early and every day is a fight for her life. So for them to say that she is not classed as a sick child MAKES ME SICK. So we are not even able to claim free carparking.

Something needs to be done to sort out this JOKE or a car parking system, so that parents of premature babies like myself do not get put under unnecessary strain, worry and pressure.
