‘Please help SAVE our school’

For nearly 20 years the Arab Women Organisation (AWO) has used the council owned facilities at City of Leeds High School (CoLHS).
Now, after we helped save CoLHS from closure the new school management has decided to terminate this long-standing arrangement under disputed circumstances.

We need community help to challenge this decision.

The Petition (11 Feb 2012)

“We the undersigned would like to urge the people responsible from City of Leeds High School and Leeds City Council to meet with AWO to resolve this matter to a mutually satisfactory conclusion.”

This is not only a tragedy for the community but also a shame that a beacon of education and integration will be lost due council cutting losts and making savings. This is not only community issue that has implications for the locals but it will also be a trend for all other similar community projects across the country if we do not participate and voice out concerns and most importantly get involved in the lobbying to keep the school open. The council/the host school should tap into the big society capital should it need to close the funding gap and work with the AWO to find other funding sources rather than close the school down. Any other issues should be dealt with in a professional and sensitive manner and not personalised. You have all our support from the forum of schools and community centres in Manchester. Please Keep up the good work. Your community needs you!
