It is sad to announce that funding for Hull JobShop will cease as from 29th July 2011

Since the opening of Hull JobShop in Nov 2009 we have achieved;

3600 Registrations
987 Clients submitting more than one application form
628 Clients Invited to interview
452 Clients into permanent employment.

We have an excellent proactive team that work hard in helping to improve the self esteem and confidence of our clients, 64% of which live within the most deprived areas of the City and have no computers or internet connection at home, compounded by the issue that community based training providers are closing due to lack of funding. Some of our clients are feeling the effects of increased poverty and material deprivation, experience social exclusion and stigma as a regular occurrence and report changes in health related behaviour.

Within Hull there are 47,800 economically inactive people (28.4% of the population) this is currently double the number of unemployed people claiming Job Seekers Allowance compared to 2007.

Hull City Councils Statement of need 2011/2012 suggest that Hull will not recover to 2007 levels of unemployment until 2026 and Yorkshire Forward have publicly stated that
