Prison Sentences

Human Rights

Why are prison sentences never served to their full term? No wonder so many criminals keep re-offending, and it acts as no deterrent for others to commit crimes. My brother was killed by a drink driver. He was handed a 3 and half year jail term, but was released after only serving 20 months. My brother? He is dead. It seems a little bit one sided to me, especially for the criminals. Come on judges, pull your bloody fingers out! Do what you are paid to do… SERVE JUSTICE, and make crime NOT pay!  Let’s get as many signatures as we can to make a point.

Prison sentences are short enough for most crimes, so releasing criminals even earlier is disgusting.

fully support they do not do enough time for death by drink and dangerous driving they get far too much time knocked off their sentances they have taken someones life and that should mean a long and full sentance same as victims families have to serve

  4. frances bailey UNITED KINGDOM

    already done

  5. Rosalind Roberts

A full sentance given at the time should always be served not time off….It is a lifetime sentance for familys left behind.Human rights should be lost when any person goes to prison they seem to have more rights than we have now!

  6. Linda Johnson UNITED KINGDOM

    I totally agree .

  7. anthony mulholland UNITED KINGDOM

people should do there time,if you commit crime you should be punished,no wonder they re offend when you only do half your time to save the goverment money.

  8. Elaine White UNITED KINGDOM

I AGREE…..ENOUGH IS ENOUGH….WHY SHOULD FAMILIES OF LOVED ONES BE MADE PAY,TO KEEP THESE SCUM LIVING A LIFE OF LUXURY FOR A FEW MONTHS/YEARS?….GRANDPARENTS, MOTHERS, FATHERS, BROTHERS, SISTERS, DAUGHTERS, SONS AND OTHER FRIENDS HAVE TO LIVE WITH THE LOSS OF DEAR ONES FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES…..COURTS WHO ARE YOU SERVING THE LIFE SENTENCES TO ????????

  9. gemma couper UNITED KINGDOM

I totally agree steve, he should of served his full sentence but they should bring back life for a life cz that criminal didn’t steal one life he stole lots of lifes, he took away a very special respected man!! The whole family lost a brother, father , son n a grandad!! My son never got to meet his grandad only an angel. That wicked boy stole a very huge warm hearted individual who is loved n missed by everyone!! RIP tony xxxx

the problem in this country the human rights of the scum that commit crimes,,,,what about the family that have to live without their loved ones, this country is a joke when it comes to prison sentences,my brother lost his son (aged 8) by some idiot speeding up a quiet street near a playground…the outcome for the loss of that young boys life was 6 months,(he didn’t serve that) and my brother ran into this murderer in the street he was carrying a baby !!!! my brother decided to move away into the next county and has to live everyday with those awful images of his lovely son dying in his arms

    • SteveMB UNITED KINGDOM

That’s so sad Carol Ann, it is always us victims that have to change things, our life, sometimes our homes, and like your brother, different towns of counties, while the scum just get on with their lifes, sponge off the state, etc. Not right at all.

yes , most deffinatley , the time given ( although way too short for some crimes ) should be the time served , any one can be good in prison , if they think they are getting out quicker, and tuff luck if they are good, so they should be, the victims lives are changed forever , and their families

Do the crime, do the time. Government need to stop opting for ‘cost efficiency’ over quality policing. Lock em up and remove their human rights… Especially those who have comitted crimes against people.
6ailing that to cut costs get me a rife, bullets and a list of ‘lifers’ that should ease overcrowding!

  13. Mara

I agree – “Do the crime, do the time (in full)

  14. sue morgan campbell UNITED KINGDOM

  15. kenneth westbury UNITED KINGDOM

life should mean life, 6 months should mean 6 months, all sentences should be served to the full.

  16. Stacey Staines UNITED KINGDOM

Completely agree. Why do you think the riots happened? Because people know that they can just get away with things, that the justice system will let them off the hook lightly! The justice system desperatly needs to be looked at and put the victems first – not the criminals human rights. If they didn’t break the law , they wouldn’t be in the situation they find themselves in anyway. Actions have consequences. The justice system needs updating,

  17. Sandra Eyston UNITED KINGDOM

Prison is supposed to be a deterant and each sentence should be served fully with no luxuries i.e. tv & game boys.
