University of York should commemorate Remembrance Day

Created November 12, 2011 by Alan Belmore

We, the undersigned, believe that the University of York’s refusal to commemorate Remembrance Day is a disgrace. We therefore petition the University of York to institute a University wide policy to hold a two-minute silence during all teaching at 11am on November 11 each year. In addition, we petition the University to announce a two-minute silence in all major buildings at the University (such as the library, sports centre and Heslington Hall), to alert others to this moment of remembrance.
