Chemical suicide, which is also referred to as detergent suicide, has been a major problem in Japan for several years and having spread to the US, detailed instructions found on the Internet mean that it is also becoming a major problem here in the UK. We are petitioning the government in order to take steps to bring down suicide websites and forums.

Suicide forums are set up with the intention of bringing together those with suicidal tendencies. While they may have initially been established to offer guidance and support to those that are feeling extremely depressed and as though they cannot go on, some have taken it further.

Forums are used as a meeting place for similarly minded people looking to end their lives. Two or more people meet up in what is dubbed a suicide pact and then end their lives together. This type of thing has hit the headlines in recent months as several suicide pacts have proven successful and using a variety of methods.

We intend to petition the government in order to do everything they can to prevent access to these sites. We believe that search engines like Google and Yahoo should be forced to remove such websites from their index so that they do not show up in search results when people look for details.

We also believe that there should be a uniform method of contacting authorities, Internet authorities, and other groups when details of such a site are located. Like the panic button that has been introduced to protect children
