Do not immerse Lord Ganesh in the Sea/River after 10 days of festival of Ganesh. Lord Ganesh is beloved to be the god of wisdoms, prosperity and good fortune and of course brings blessings. Ganesh statue gets swept away and break and immerse them into the sea and dumped into the bin collecting sites. The idol when made or bought is a statue without life. When Puja(prays) is done at that time it is made live and the procedure is known as Prana prathishta(soul). Such an idol cannot be kept without daily worship. I cannot see possible the Idol is immersed in water with prayer to the lord to take leave and come back next year? Lord Ganesh has power and the strength to return to his home at Mount Kailash peaceful.
We are already in such a polluted environment – on top of this we are immersing thousands of idols in Sea / river water. Don’t we think we are doing wrong and making our sins? As already water is contaminated these days – while the Idols are immersed – there are paint’s and other toxic Substances are decorated on the Idol ! We are contaminating the water also.
