We live in challenging economic times. We all have tough choices to make as to how we spend our money and the same is true with our council. The truth is that we don’t need a chief executive for such a small council (it’s one of the smallest in the country).
The post costs us council tax payers over 140k a year (on top of the elections expenses the post holder gets). Many councils bigger than rossendale make do without the post and we can do the same here. The current chief executive spends 1/4 of her time outside of the borough anyway. The council needs to make savings and protect front line services such as bins collections, litter picking, pools, sport centres, environmental health etc
please support this petition to help the council save money and save front line services. We hope to bring a motion to the council with a request that councillors delete the post and make a huge annual saving which can be used to protect services instead.
