As explained in the covering email, we will be sending the following letter to Mrs Kim Archer, Chair of Governors at St Andrew’s prior to the Governors’ Meeting on Wednesday 4th July. If you support this action, please sign the letter via the online petition that we have set up. The more support we receive, the more the Chair of Governors will have to take notice.

Important information:

We understand that some parents might wish to remain anonymous. If this is the case, please rest assured that your email address will not appear on the list of signatories to the petition (you are required to enter your email address only for verification purposes). Instead of entering your name on the petition, simply enter “Reception/Year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 parent” as applies to you. In the comment section of the petition, please enter how many children you have at St Andrew’s. If you do not wish to do so, please simply enter a full stop. Time is of the essence so if you wish to sign the petition, please do so by Tuesday 3rd July 2012. Please remember to verify your signature by clicking on the link that will be emailed to you once you have signed the petition. Please can you send this on to any other parents that you know would support our request? However, if anyone feels that they do not want to support this letter and would rather raise their issues individually, then that is absolutely fine. We are of the opinion that a letter supported by a group of parents will carry more weight than individual letters but we respect the decision of anyone who would rather not be part of this.

We are only taking this action as we feel passionately about St Andrew’s and we would like to see positive changes so our children can experience an improved learning environment.

Letter to Mrs Kim Archer:

Mrs Kim Archer
Chair of Governors
St Andrews CE School

Dear Mrs Archer,

Following the Parent Governors’ surgery which was held at the school on Friday 29th June, we wanted to inform you that a significant number of parents are deeply concerned about the number of teachers leaving the school at the end of term and the impact that this might have on the children’s education and the school community. We trust that you will be investigating the reasons for such an unusual level of staff turnover in order to ascertain what the issues are. In addition to the alarming rate of staff turnover, parents also expressed concern regarding the following:
1. The lack of feedback from the parent questionnaires completed in February
2. Communication between the school and parents
3. Very high level of supply teacher usage

The strength of feelings amongst parents is such that we feel that this warrants your urgent written feedback dealing with all of the issues raised in this letter. We trust that these issues will be addressed at the Governors’  Meeting on Wednesday 4th July 2012 and as such, we request your written response by Wednesday 11th July 2012 to be distributed to parents via Parentmail. Additionally, we request a parents’ forum meeting with yourself and the other Governors to give a wider group of parents an opportunity to hear what you, as Chair of Governors, will be implementing to address our concerns and to reassure us that improvements will be put in place. This will also allow parents to communicate feedback directly to you. In your response to us, please indicate the date that you propose to have this parents’ forum meeting so we can make the necessary arrangements. We are requesting that this meeting occurs as soon as possible, given the end of term is not far off. These issues require your urgent attention and cannot be put off until the new academic year. We assure you that we only have our children’s best interests at heart and we would welcome the opportunity to do whatever we can, in a constructive manner, to help make improvements to the school.

We await your response.

Yours sincerely,
