We, the residents of Eastcote, ask the Post Office to grant us our own unique Post Code.
Eastcote is a thriving small town which forms part of the original ‘Metroland’. First planned in the mid 1920’s, it was extended in the 1930’s with a station and a number of Art Deco buildings, most of which survive to this day.
Local residents groups have transformed Eastcote over the past few years and we now have our own identity and are the envy of other towns within the borough of Hillingdon, and elsewhere.
Five churches serve the religious needs of our residents and we have 3 well established and well run pubs, 2 of which are listed buildings; an active British Legion Club, our own Post Office, a hotel and a newly refurbished library.
Taken together, there are 30 other listed buildings in the Eastcote area, 15 of which are of Tudor origin with 22 others being ‘Locally listed’. We also have 3 conservation areas and 2 parks and gardens that have been awarded the coveted Green Flag status.
Eastcote stands alone and is at least 1½ miles from the nearest neighbouring town. It has its own underground station, itself a listed building, which is served by the Metropolitan and Piccadilly lines, in addition to the 3 bus routes running through the area.
Eight schools educate our children, who are regular visitors to our 3 Sites of Importance for Nature Conservation.
We also have our own Cricket Club, a Leisure Centre, two Tennis Clubs, an Arts Society, a History Society and a Horticultural Society. When you add an active Residents Association and a Village Conservation Panel to the mix, we are extremely lucky to live in the vibrant and attractive town we see today.
There is no doubt that Eastcote is a ‘town’ in its own right and with its own identity of which the residents are duly proud.
However as far as the Post Office is concerned we don’t exist and, to add insult to injury, Eastcote is actually split in half and we have to share two post codes, HA4 and HA5, with Ruislip and Pinner, which is actually in the London Borough of Harrow.
We ask that Eastcote be awarded its own unique Post Code, i.e. HA10.
