The local authority is on a money saving mission and has conducted a review of the schools estate within moray. Their proposals are suggesting closing valuable and important rural schools and creating centralised 3-18 campuses under the guise of sustainable education. For the keith area this would mean transporting children further afield into an already oversubscribed school, which is working hard yet lacking support to meet the needs of its current pupils. The thought of 3 year olds and 18 year olds on the same site is also horrifying many parents. Botriphnie primary school has an excellent hmie report and a building fit for purpose. Closing this school, as well as others in the area, would have a devastating effect on their communities as well as children’s development and education.
