A hand-reared lamb who is set for slaughter at a primary school has been taken away to a mystery location to prevent rescue bids.
Marcus, one of three sheep kept at Lydd Primary, in Romney Marsh, Kent, has been bottle-fed by pupils who have watched him grow since he arrived at the school.
But in order to make room for more animals, including pigs, the school\'s council has voted for Marcus to be slaughtered.
When news of the decision broke yesterday, parents launched a protest against the move and called on headteacher Andrea Charman to give the lamb a stay of execution. However so far Andrea Chapman is still refusing to acnowledge the plees of the parents and children.
The plight of Marcus has also sparked offers by animal sanctuaries and other farms to save him from the abattoir.
But Mrs Charman is said to be adamant he will be slaughtered, with his meat being raffled off and the money raised used to buy pigs for the school farm.

Please sign this petition if you wish for Marcus to be saved and to indicate that this sort of activity is not acceptable in UK schools.
