Buckinghamshire county council is planning to save some costs via the implementation of numerous double decker buses shared between DCHS and DCGS instead of the separate buses that each school has today. The council’s objectives of saving some costs is understandable, however, this proposal is highly disturbing and will have a massive impact on the day to day life of a significant portion of the school’s pupils.
It is estimated that it will take pupils an extra 8-12 hours per week on transport back and forth to school, this will clearly have a very negative impact on their quality of life. Most students spend a significant amount of time on extra curricular activities as part of their personal development and on most days they also can have 2hrs of homework (probably more in exam years).
Inevitably, the planned changes will result in many parents driving their children to school which will result in greater traffic on our already busy roads, not to mention the logistical nightmare that will be encountered when all these double decker buses and numerous parents arrive and leave the tiny school entrance at the same time!
We strongly object to these changes the council is planning and ask that you kindly support this petition. It is clear in our minds that the logistics have not been thought through in sufficient detail and the welfare of the pupils has certainly not been taken into account.
