The fundamental rights that we have in this country, unlike for example in the USA where they appear to have an inalienable right to bear arms, are peaceful and integral to the dignity of the human being.

We must fight to end all police abuse of power. Kettling is extremely dangerous and must be stopped before people are killed.

  10. Sam McGill

The police, legal system and prisons are again illustrating that they are weapons of class oppression in maintaining British imperialism. Any effective movement will quickly come up against the machinery of the state and it is our collective duty to defend all those it singles out. Fight political policing!

Freedom of expression is a basic human right

  13. Dominic Mulgrew UNITED KINGDOM

Alongside the vicious attack on living standards the policing in this country will become more militarised and brutal. Kettling is one of the tactics they are using to try scare people away from protesting so it must be opposed head on ASAP. Seize the time!

  14. Karen McFarlane UNITED KINGDOM

If you can’t peacefully protest, it’s not a democracy.

The practices of kettling by functionaries, i.e the police is used as a form of deterrence to oppose all forms of protest in the age of austerity and in defence of the ruling classes. These were practices under apartheid and fascist regimes in Chile and now in Britain. These practices need to stopped before civilians are killed.

  17. Radeyah Yesmin UNITED KINGDOM

Protests are just one of the many ways that people are able to hold governments and influential bodies to account. It’s also a way people can express themselves and show their concerns. To take all that away is to cripple democracy in this country.

  18. Scott McDonald UNITED KINGDOM
