I have had to put Somerset as the region as we are, short term, in Corfu.
My pension and rent from a Uk property is paid into my Nationwide account and I draw from there whenever it is reqd. Sometimes I play the market for a good exchange rate. The loss of a free of charge withdrawal will mean that a lump sum will have to be sent from my UK bank to a greek bank and Nationwide will therefore lose much of my business as any UK monies would, after this transfer, go direct into my savings account for future use.

Will seriously consider opening Greek bank account and having cash deposited in that and leaving Nationwide

Think these charges are an outrage and go against Nationwides principles

I had just decided to open a Nationwide account, I'm retiring to France in June 2011. But, as the charges will apparently be the same as they will be with my current banking facility, I won't bother! Shame on Nationwide – such hypocrisy.

We have had an account with Nationwide since 1968 and this is the first time that we have had to voice a negative opinion. This is our only bank account and we closed our other accounts many years ago.

I shall certainly be closing my Nationwide account if this change takes place.

Loyal long standing customers who live abroad will find this a bitter blow. We have already suffered in that we cannot change our esavings account to a more recent version that gives some interest because we do not have a UK address and now we are going to have to pay to get access to our money!

Yes. I originally opened the flexaccount for foreign use.
I subsequently obtained a credit card which I use as my main one and invested in their Esaveraccount and ISAs. I did this out of loyalty BECAUSE of the foreign currency. Because of the new policy I will be removing my main accounts elsewhere.

I live abroad after banking with Nationwide for nearly 30years. My pension is paid in sterling into a nationwide flexaccount and charges for withdrawal in euros will diminish it's value.

Dismayed and outraged by your punitive unilateral action and have already put measures in place to move my funds and monthly salary elsewhere.
